He was the creator of The Lone Ranger character. In a business contract, he sold the rights to the character to his employer in return for "steady employment" to support his family.

The character was created in Buffalo, New York, the first actor to play The Lone Ranger was a Buffalonian, and the first, test episodes were broadcast in Buffalo prior to the shows that were eventually broadcast in Detroit.

Striker also created The Green Hornet, although he was under contract to Trendle who later claimed credit for the character.

Killed in a head-on collision not far from Buffalo, NY.

Western actor Buck Jones sued The radio station and Republic Pictures, saying they stole his idea. Buck Jones was already making movies in the 20's and into the 30's where he rode a white horse named Silver. He even would yell out "Hi-Yo Silver" in these movies. A few of these movies were titled The Lone Rider (1930) and The Texas Ranger (1931). Jones lost the case, and the rest is history.
