Gueorgui Stoyanov was born on July 27, 1936 in Moscow, where he first graduated from engineering specialty. Then he moved to Paris where he studied filmmaking and directing (1961-1963). Since 1963 for four years he has worked as a director at the Documentaries Studios. Since f1967 he has become a director in Boyana Film Studios. He is a founder and first Chairman of the Cabinet of Young Filmmakers (1969). He was a Chairman of the Union of Bulgarian Filmmakers (twice). He was also a Vice President of Bulgarian National Television, 1990; Deputy Minister of Culture, 1995-96; Councilor for Culture of the Embassy of Bulgaria in Washington from 1996 to 1997. Gueorgui Stoyanov is a founding member of the World Assembly of filmmakers in Funchal, Madeira, 1980. He participated in the Conference of European Parliament in Strasbourg devoted to the fate of European cinema 1992; in the General Assembly of FERA in France, Germany, Czechoslovakia, Hungary; in the 5th session of the Ministry of Francophone in Paris; in the Colloquium "Towards a European cinema of the XXI Century" in Strasbourg. For his creative achievements he has won numerous national and international festival awards and state honors, such as "Golden age", 2006, the Ministry of culture. In 2011, the year of his 75th anniversary, Gueorgui Stoyanov published his monumental novel "Gift Voucher California-Gulag", which tells the story of his father. The book is very dramatic. The son has transmitted feelings, emotions and experiences of the founder of cardiovascular surgery in Bulgaria Costa Stoyanov, who had spent 1937 to 1945 in the "Gulag". Gueorgui Stoyanov's father had said: "To dedicate part of yourself to the service of the people - this is the highest human dignity ..." One of the best known and loved films of Gueorgui Stoyanov is "Cricket in the ear." His wife is an actress Dobrinka Stankova. They have a daughter and a son.
