Sonny Stitt was born on February 2, 1924 in Boston, Massachusetts, USA. He is known for On the Road (2012), Black Girl (1972) and The Cheaters (1958). He died on July 22, 1982 in Washington, District of Columbia, USA.

Inducted into the Big Band and Jazz Hall of Fame in 1989.

Jazz saxophonist (alto, tenor and baritone), plus vocalist.

Made some records under the name Lord Nelson.
