Biography

Hans Sternberg was born on July 3, 1878 in Lübeck, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. He was an actor, known for Peer Gynt (1919), Die goldene Stadt (1942) and Peer Gynt - 2. Teil: Peer Gynts Wanderjahre und Tod (1919). He died on May 13, 1948 in Berlin, Germany.

He went to Berlin in 1909 where he remained active for several decades on different stages. He continued his film career in the 20s and he acted in productions like Dr. Mabuse, der Spieler" (1922), "Der falsche Prinz" (1927) and "Schwarzwaldmädel" (1929).

He began his artistic career at the theater at the end of the 19th century and he first appeared at the "Grossherzogliches Theater" in Oldenburg. In the next years followed engagements in different cities, among them Leipzig and Hamburg.

After the war he only took part in one more movie with "Freies Land" (1946) and he also remained active on stage till to his death.

Tha transition to the sound film was no problem for the skilled stage actor and he impersonated small support roles in Hahn im Korb" (1937), "Kleider machen Leute" (1940), "Der grosse König" (1942) and "Die goldene Stadt" (1942).
