James Stephens was born on 18 May 1951 in Mount Kisco, New York, USA. He is an actor and director, known for The Getaway (1994), Father Dowling Mysteries (1989) and Empire of Ash (1989). He has been married to Priscilla Taylor since 1973.

Due to polio, had to wear leg braces as a child. Also had trouble holding a pencil and writing his name, which caused him to need to repeat kindergarten.
