Arend Steenbergen is an awarded writer-director from The Netherlands, known for artistic and groundbreaking movies for cinema and television and for movies for young audiences.
He debuted as a writer with De vader van Najib (1993) and Temmink: The Ultimate Fight (1998) and then wrote and directed the awarded tv film Dreamers (2004).
After writing and directing the film Milan en de zielen (2004) he got inspired by working with young people and also started writing and directing awarded films especially for young audiences, such as feature film Offside (2006) and short film 6 tips om de beste voetballer van de wereld te worden (2010).
Arend Steenbergen is now in post-production of the film Zorg questioning what it means when robots will take over medical care of people.
Since 2025 his films are produced by Frictie Films.
