John Stapleton was born on February 24, 1946 in Oldham, Lancashire, England, UK. He was an actor, known for Tickets for the Titanic (1987), London Plus (1984) and Medical Express (1979). He was married to Lynn Faulds Wood. He died on September 21, 2025 in the UK.

Began his working life as a trainee reporter in the north-west, before moving into television as a presenter on the BBC's Nationwide and then for Newsnight, where he reported on conflicts around the world.
