Spoke openly about his bisexuality in interviews after playing a gay teenager in Summer Storm (2004).

Stated that he had to move to another city because he had to "destroy" his life every two years, so it didn't become boring. After living in Berlin, twice in Hamburg, Barcelona and Vienna, he moved back to Berlin (2008).

Suffered from agoraphobia, an anxiety disorder.

He is German-Austrian descent. Born to Austrian Martin Stadlober, an electrician, and his German wife Margit, he grew up in Austria until the age of eight. After his parents had divorced, he moved to Berlin with his mother.
