Ruth St. Denis was born on January 20, 1878 in Newark, New Jersey, USA. She was an actress, known for The Fall of Babylon (1919), The Lily and the Rose (1915) and Look Your Best (1923). She was married to Ted Shawn. She died on July 21, 1968 in Hollywood, California, USA.

With her husband, Ted Shawn, founded the Denishawn dance company and school.

Dancer, choreographer, and pioneer of modern dance.
