José Soveral(1888-1955)

After a short career in the army as lieutenant, he started a new career
as an actor. Studied in the school of performing arts in Oporto,
created by the Italian film director Rino Lupo, and began performing in
theatre and cinema. In the 20s he left Portugal and went to Brazil,
then Mozambique, India and finally Macao where he was married and his
daughter was born. In Macao he was a civil servant but also a theatre
actor and director. José Soveral returned to Portugal in 1951, but even
during his stay in Macao he went to Portugal to perform at least in a
film in 1949.
