Herbert F. Solow is a Producer, Writer, Director, Executive and Studio Head. Former MGM Vice-president and Head of Worldwide Motion Pictures and Television Production; Vice-president of Paramount Pictures Television; Vice-president and Head of Desilu Studios; Vice-president of Hanna-Barbara; Executive/Director of Daytime Programs for both NBC and CBS; Head of Programming and Production for the NBC Film Division; William Morris Agency theatrical agent representing film producers, directors, writers.

He has worked with and been responsible for films of such directors as David Lean, Robert Altman, Herb Ross, Blake Edwards, Paul Mazursky, Roger Vadim, Michelangelo Antonioni, Burt Kennedy, James Goldstone, Richard Longcraine and many others.

Herb is the sole authority on the original Star Trek, Mission:Impossible, Mannix, Medical Center, Courtship of Eddie's Father, Then Came Bronson and Man From Atlantis television series as well as the author of Inside Star Trek: the Real Story (Simon & Schuster, 1996,) considered the best, most definitive and interesting of the hordes of Star Trek books as well as The Star Trek Sketchbook, (Simon & Schuster, 1997.)

He is a member of the Writers' Guild of America, the Directors' Guild of America and the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and has served for many years on various Academy Award Nominating Committees, (Foreign Film, Documentary Feature and Special Effects). His career covers all aspects of and at the heart of the film and entertainment business, both television and motion pictures. His acumen, talent and success extends to all areas of the entertainment business in the United States and Europe: production, distribution, network, marketing, business affairs, promotion, directing and writing.

He and his wife, author Dr. Harrison Solow, live and work in California and the Pacific Northwest.
