Snyder was shot and killed outside his home in suburban Los Angeles, California. Police at first suspected it was an organized-crime hit, as he was known to associate with Mafia figures in the adult-film business and his company, which produced pornographic films, had gone bankrupt and owed money to some Mafia associates. However, they dropped that theory and later arrested Snyder's wife and his cocaine supplier on murder charges. The drug dealer admitted killing Snyder but claimed he was hired by Snyder's wife to do it. She denied it, and a jury acquitted her of the charges.
