His 1950 hit, "I'm Moving On," spent 21 weeks at No. 1 on Billboard's country charts, one of just three songs to accomplish that feat. He nearly repeated that incredible feat in 1954 with his 20-week No. 1, "I Don't Hurt Anymore."

Though he first recorded for RCA Victor in 1936, it wasn't until 1949 when he had his first major country hit with "Marriage Vow."

His other No. 1 hits included "Golden Rocket" (1950); "The Rhumba Boogie" (1951); "I've Been Everywhere" (1962); and "Hello Love" (1974). Other major hits included "Fool Such as I" (1953); "Beggar into a King" (1961); and "Ninety Miles An Hour (Down a Dead End Street)" (1963).

Father of minister Jimmie Rodgers Snow, named after Hank's idol, Jimmie Rodgers; who was the original "Singing Brakeman", a popular song artist who recorded train and other "country western" oriented music in the teens and twenties before the musical genre was identified as such.
