Biography

Winchell Smith was born on April 5, 1871 in Hartford, Connecticut, USA. He was a writer and director, known for The Saphead (1920), The Boomerang (1925) and Lightnin' (1925). He was married to Grace F. Spencer. He died on June 10, 1933 in Farmington, Connecticut, USA.

Playwright, probably best remembered for his plays "Lightnin" and "Brewster's Millions.".

Had also been an actor and a producer during his forty year career.

Smith and Broadway producer Charles B. Dillingham were lifelong friends.

Was a grandnephew of the American slavery abolitionist, John Brown.
