Mini bio

  • Vaughn Juares (born March 27 in Fontana, California) was founder and managing partner of MuviNow, and FilmDemic, media and technology companies based in the US and Australia.

Vaughn is a 6th generation Californian with a deep background in digital product development, customer acquisition, content marketing, and innovation in the ever-growing overlap of entertainment and technology, particularly in global emerging markets. Vaughn is, at heart, an inventor. Vaughn is a developer of early monetizing and marketing models for new (social) media and filmed entertainment. He is the author of multiple patent applications for marketing, rights management, social media content technologies, algorithms for content recommendation, and syndication of media content. Vaughn sees problems and solves them by seeing things in ways others often do not.

Vaughn's recent endeavors include the turnaround, marketing, and globalization of VOD platforms including the launch of Stuff Pix in New Zealand and MuviNow in Australia, The Philippines, and Indonesia. Vaughn led an international team through hands-on development of the MuviNow product and deployment through tel-co partners including Globe Telecom and Telkom Indonesia.

Vaughn's first venture in viral videos was writing/directing the "Jesus Christ Action Figure" spec commercial, which was posted on a simple web-page and received more than 4 million hits per month in 2003 - all before YouTube. In 2006, Vaughn developed pilots for episodic content for exclusive distribution on early mobile phones called "mobisodes" for Tony To, co-executive producer of HBO's "Band of Brothers." That same year, he wrote and produced short film content for Microsoft's entertainment division: projects "Saga of the Saint" and "Paper Trail." Vaughn also wrote and directed a catalog of short films produced for Dunkin Donuts with the NFL, NBA, and Major League Baseball for the NY Jets, NY Giants, NY Mets, NY Yankees, and the NJ Nets.

Vaughn's early career blossomed in 1999 when he co-founded SER International Corp., a Spanish- language media agency. SER's clients included Sony Music (Discos), Univision Music Group, EMI Latin, Fonovisa Records, and others. While leading SER, Vaughn was best known for his work with artist Pilar Montenegro whose number one Billboard Chart hit "Quitame Ese Hombre" which holds a Billboard honor as one of the longest-lasting number one tracks. Vaughn also was charged with the creative execution of Jennifer Peña's "Vamos Al Mundial," the official song of the FIFA World Cup written by Rudy Pérez.

His video for Peña's "Vivo Y Muero En Tu Piel" was acclaimed for its stunning contrast, having been photographed in 2004 at the Saint Paul Winter Carnival's Ice Palace. Juares' work in Spanish-language music videos was part of the trend to modernize Regional Mexican music videos.
