- Stepson of Scottie Frances Scott Fitzgerald Smith, daughter of F. Scott Fitzgerald and Zelda Fitzgerald Fitzgerald.
- He has been married, since 1991, to LA-based Scottish food stylist, Valerie Aikman Smith. Married in St. John USVI, lived at the time in London on a house boat on the Thames in Chelsea.
