- Danny Smith was born in Montreal but moved to Pickering, Ontario at the age of seven.
After high school, Danny was accepted into AMDA (American Musical and Dramatic Academy) in New York City, but did not go, instead appearing in many musical theatre productions at Stage West in Mississauga.
He went on to study and perform improvisational comedy at The Second City in Toronto, one of his teachers being SCTV's Joe Flaherty. This led to lead roles on television ("It's Alive!", "Big Wolf on Campus") and film ("National Lampoon's Senior Trip", "All I Wanna Do", "The Big Hit".)
He also wrote and performed the "Big Wolf on Campus" theme song, as well as scoring some scenes.
In 2000, he was one of eight men flown to New York City to audition for Saturday Night Live, exclusively for Lorne Michaels.
Danny lives in Toronto and Los Angeles where he was the singer/songwriter/guitarist/pianist for the now-defunct rock band The City Drive (Sony Records). The band released "Always Moving Never Stopping" (2006) and "Egocentral EP"(2007) and opened for Aerosmith, Fleetwood Mac, Goo Goo Dolls and Hoobastank.
In 2010, Danny appeared in Disney's "Harriet The Spy", "The Ron James Show" and the film "Suck" which won the Audience Award for Best Film at the Whistler Film Festival.

He has starred alongside Mark Wahlberg (The Big Hit), Jeremy Renner (National Lampoon's Senior Trip), Kirsten Dunst (All I Wanna Do) and Leonard Nimoy in a Telus TV commercial while Danny was the spokesman from 2010-2018. He voiced the lead male character Rudie on the animated series Gwen Stefani's Kuukuu Harajuku (65 episodes), and the character of Petey on Adult Swim's Fugget About It (65 episodes).
In 2017, he Directed a SportChek commercial starring NBA All-Star Kyle Lowry while Lowry was on the Toronto Raptors. Danny has also directed countless radio & TV commercials for brands like McDonald's, Tim Horton's, CIBC, Audi, Harley Davidson, Maytag and more.
From 2002-2008, he was a Sony Records-signed musician as the lead singer/guitarist/pianist/ songwriter in the LA-based band The City Drive. They opened for Aerosmith, Fleetwood Mac, Hoobastank and Goo Goo Dolls, and played the Vans Warped Tour in 2006 & 2007 alongside many bands including Sum 41 and Joan Jett.
