- Andrew Smith is known for Space 1999: The Audio Drama (2019), Star Cops (2018) and Doctor Who (1963).
- Took a break from writing for 25 years to work in the British Police Force and served in Special Branch.
- Smith was a member of the Doctor Who (1963) Appreciation Society and, at the age of just 18, he was the youngest ever person to write for Doctor Who (1963) when his script for Full Circle: Part One (1980) was commissioned.
- A good Who story is, I think, one which is acceptable on a number of levels. This I tried to achieve with Full Circle: Part One (1980). To those who wish, it is a straightforward ''monster'' story with Our Heroes threatened by a group of hostile, bloodthirsty killer beasts. It is also, again to those that wish, I hope something a little juicier than that, an intriguing tale not only of xenophobia but of self-deceit, loyalties, and many other aspects.
