Ailie Smith

Overview

  • Height
    5′ 9″ (1.75 m)

Mini bio

  • After initially training as a Makeup Artist Ailie enjoyed a successful 13 year global career in the film industry. Her credits include some of the biggest grossing British films of all time such as Harry Potter, Prince of Persia, Troy and Cold Mountain and in 2016 Ailie attended the Oscars and BAFTAs as part of the award winning Makeup Team on Mad Max; Fury Road.

Ailie began her producing career in 2007 as a key member of the development and production team on projects including 'The Academy' starring Sir Ian McKellen, as well as helping to finance 'Little Charley Bear' a digital animation released on CBBCs in early 2011. At this time Ailie also secured development funding with Creative Scotland for her first independent feature 'Mirza', which went on to gain a place on the prestigious Binger Film lab in Amsterdam.

In 2012, Ailie incorporated her first company, Creative Media Skills, based at Pinewood Studios, which provides training and support for film, TV and theatrical professionals who aim to work at the utmost level of their chosen field in the UK. Experts and legends from the industry are invited to Creative Media Skills to pass on their specialist knowledge to the next generation of filmmakers - something Ailie is very passionate about supporting.

Mouth of Hell was a labor of love for Ailie and she saw the magic of the project through the unique voice of the director and the incredible location. Shot in west Bengal India in early 2013 it was directed by Edinburgh based BAFTA winning Director Samir Mehanovic and tells the story of Anant, an 8 year old boy living in Jharia, India, one of the most dangerous places on earth.
