Daughter of actress Natalya Rudnaya and director Andrey Smirnov, the filmmaker of Belorussky Station (1971).
Has a son, Danila Ippolitov (b. 1990, is a footballer), with her ex-husband Arkadiy Ippolitov.
Dropped out of Moscow University School of Journalism.
Was a reporter for various media in Moscow and St. Petersburg, Russia, before becoming a writer, director and popular host on late night TV.
Fan of Rainer Werner Fassbinder.
