Biography

Sergei Smirnov was born on September 13, 1915 in Petrograd, Russian Empire [now St. Petersburg, Russia]. He was a writer, known for Gorod pod lipami (Epizody geroicheskoy oborony) (1971), Italiano brava gente (1964) and Sekretar obkoma (1964). He died on March 22, 1976 in Moscow, RSFSR, USSR [now Russia].

Was decorated for his courage in the front lines against the Nazis during WW2.

Father of director Andrey Smirnov.
