  • Though his name might not be that familiar to you, his face (even when hidden under makeup) and his distinctive baritone voice most certainly are.

    Tucker Smallwood is the eldest son of an educator and diplomat.

    He was an NBC television director before being drafted into the US Army in 1967. He was commissioned as an infantry officer and served as an OCS tactical officer at Fort Benning before undergoing Vietnamese language training and jump school. Tucker later commanded a mobile advisory team during the Vietnam War. After recovering from combat wounds, Smallwood moved to New York to study acting at the Neighborhood Playhouse.

    Aside from appearing in many television and film roles, Tucker's the author (and audio book narrator) of Return to Eden, an anthology of 33 essays describing his experiences as an army advisor in Vietnam, his life as an actor after that, and his return to Vietnam in 2004.

    Mr. Smallwood's also a lifelong musician and performed all vocals on the delta blues album Incarnation: The Robert Johnson Project.

He got his wish when he was cast as a member of the vicious Species 8472 on Star Trek: Voyager (1995)...which turned out to be a character disguised as a human (Admiral Bullock). He finally got to play a real alien, the Xindi Primate leader, on Star Trek: Enterprise (2001).
