One of the greatest jockeys in the history of Thoroughbred racing. Competed in the United States and England. On its formation in 1955, he was inducted in the U.S. Racing Hall of Fame.
He was the "Yankee Doodle" in the George M. Cohan Broadway musical "Little Johnny Jones" and the basis for the Ernest Hemingway short story "My Old Man".
