She was kidnapped in January 1992 by Michael Sams, while showing him
round a house being sold by the estate agent company for which she
worked. She was kept imprisoned in a wheelie bin in a workshop in
Newark for eight days while Sams extorted a ransom from her employers,
after which he drove her home. Sams was later convicted of kidnapping
her and demanding money by menaces... and also of kidnapping and
murdering another woman, Julie Dart from Leeds, a few months earlier.
He was caught when his ex-wife recognised his voice on a ransom demand
tape.
