Started dating actress Maria Bonnevie back in 2006. They now live together both in Oslo and Stockholm depending of their work-schedule. They became parents to a girl, Sonja Bonnevie on August 2012.

Started working as a journalist, commentator and illustrator in the newspaper business back in 1987. Was picked up by national television company NRK (Norway) in 1996. Took a break from television from 2007 until he started working for Swedish national television network SVT in 2009. In 2010 one of his own production companies "Monkberry AS" took over the production of the popular talk-show "Skavlan".

Is the youngest of 4 siblings.

Sophia was his girlfriend back in 1983, they later married in 1989 the same year Sophia gave birth to their first child.
