Joan Singleton

  • Joan Singleton is a member of Women in Film, and Co-Founder of the Publishers Marketing Association.
  • Joan Singleton discovered FIRST BLOOD while at Warner Bros. (see Chapter 14, "If The Other Guy Isn't Jack Nicholson, I've Got The Part," Ron Base, Contemporary Books, 1994). She left Warner Bros. to become an independent producer. During this time, she found that there was a serious need for well-researched and comprehensive data on the film industry. She along with her husband, veteran producer and director Ralph Singleton formed Lone Eagle Publishing, a company that published professional books by and for the movie industry. Lone Eagle's best-selling credit and contact directory, FILM DIRECTORS: A COMPLETE GUIDE was published annually along with other directories on screenwriters, actors, producers, cinematographers, production designers, costume designers, film editors, special effects and stunts personnel, television directors and television writers. Lone Eagle also published over 25 professional tradebooks included Film Scheduling: How Long Will It Take To Shoot Your Movie?; Film Budgeting: How Much Will It Cost To Shoot Your Movie?; How Not To Write A Screenplay; Elements of Style for Screenwriters; Encyclopedia of Casting Directors; Film Editing Room Handbook; and more. Singleton sold Lone Eagle Publishing in 1999 to resume her film career. It is now incorporated into www.ifilm.com
