Doris Singleton was born on September 29, 1919 in Brooklyn, New York, USA. She was an actress, known for Angel (1960), I Love Lucy (1951) and The Red Skelton Hour (1951). She was married to Charles Isaacs. She died on June 26, 2012 in Los Angeles, California, USA.

In the The Club Election (1953), her character is named "Lillian Appleby". In all later episodes, the character's first name was inexplicably changed to "Caroline".

Originally, she was supposed to co-star on Here's Lucy (1968). Her character was supposed to be Harry Carter's (Gale Gordon) efficient morning secretary, who would stand in contrast to Lucy (Lucille Ball), his scatterbrained afternoon secretary. Her character was dropped after the first episode because it was decided to show more of Lucy's family life and less of her life on the job.

Is interred at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in the Hollywood Hills.

[on playing Caroline Appleby on I Love Lucy (1951)] She was sort of Lucy's nemesis because both had young sons they would brag about. There was a rivalry there, but she had to be nice, Lucy had to be nice to Caroline, because her husband owned the television station.

[on My Three Sons (1960)] Well, because Fred doesn't come in until after all the other scenes are shot, and then he does the scenes with the people that he's involved with, but you have to leave clothes there because we never know if we're going to have to do retakes or something.
