  • He was a broadcaster for CBC (Canada) for 55 years. He wrote dozens of radio and television plays. He served as vice president of the CBC, and helped organize the Association of Canadian Television and Radio Artists (ACTRA). He was interested in and knowledgeable about many things, including poetry, math, music, and literature. He once said he wanted to die learning.
  • He was born in India to Scottish parents, and raised in England. He held degrees in mathematics and physics (University of British Columbia).
  • He was awarded the O.C. (Officer of the Order of Canada) on June 24, 1985 for his services to communications in Canada.
