Irish character actor, often in comic roles. On stage from 1904 with the Irish National Dramatic Society. Ensemble member of Dublin's Abbey Theatre for its first twelve years, until 1916. Often acted in the plays of Sean O'Casey. Films occasional, including a strong supporting role in
Hungry Hill (1947).
