Ivan F. Simpson was born on February 4, 1875 in Glasgow, Scotland, UK. He was an actor, known for The Adventures of Robin Hood (1938), Mutiny on the Bounty (1935) and The Male Animal (1942). He died on October 12, 1951 in New York City, New York, USA.

Father of actress Pamela Simpson (1905-2002).

Lean, white-haired and austere-looking Scottish supporting actor in Hollywood, often seen as servants, lawyers, doctors and clergymen.

Character actor said to have been a favorite of the film star George Arliss. He appeared in some seven of the latter's pictures, among scores of others from 1915 to 1948.

Appeared in seven Best Picture Oscar nominees: Disraeli (1929), The House of Rothschild (1934), David Copperfield (1935), Mutiny on the Bounty (1935), Captain Blood (1935), The Adventures of Robin Hood (1938) and Random Harvest (1942). Mutiny on the Bounty won Best Picture of 1935.
