Biography

Bob Simmons was born on March 31, 1922 in Fulham, London, England, UK. He was an actor, known for Moonraker (1979), Goldfinger (1964) and Thunderball (1965). He died on October 21, 1987.

Doubled for Sean Connery as Bond in the gun-barrel sequences of the first three James Bond films, despite having been approximately six inches shorter than Connery. He also doubled Richard Kiel in "the Spy Who Loved Me" in the train-scene, where he went through the plate glass window. Kiel stands 7.2 feet tall and Bob was 5.9. Despite the difference it was accomplished purely with Simmons attitude and camera-angle.

He's the only Englishman to be elected to the Hollywood's Hall of Fame having been awarded 'Best Stunt Cordinator (1980/81) for his work on For Your Eyes Only (1981),.

Some sources erroneously credit Maurice Good as the 'fake limo driver' in the 1966 episode of The Saint: The Queen's Ransom, the first color episode. But it is Bob Simmons who plays the fake limo driver.
