Liz Silver

Biography

  • Liz Silver, Partner and Executive Producer of Believe Media, is one of the most accomplished executive producers working in the music video and TV commercial genres today. A specialist in solving vexing international production problems and collaborating closely with directors and clients, she also brings to her work a solid background in long-form production.

Liz began her career in the music industry in New York, where she organized the influential New Music Seminar and worked on documentaries and news specials before forming her own music video company, Sound & Vision. She segued from that into television commercials, where she worked for some of the top production houses in the industry before teaming up with husband Luke Thornton to open their own company, The End, in 1991. In 2000 Liz and Luke opened Believe Media, which has consistently played a key role in some of the most talked-about ad campaigns in the industry. Client list includes: Target, Nike, L'Oreal, Coca-Cola. Budweiser, BMW to name but a few.

While strongly rooted in short-form work, Liz has also produced feature length documentaries and television specials. Among her long-form credits are "Weird Nightmare," a tribute to jazz great Charles Mingus that was directed by Ray Davies of The Kinks. It ran on PBS, the BBC and Canal Plus, and was distributed to the retail market by Sony Classics. Liz also produced a feature length documentary for Steely Dan and The Disney Channel, and collaborates often with director Storm Thorgerson, the visual genius behind the film and design work for Pink Floyd. Liz also produced a feature-length documentary about Kassim "The Dream" Ouma, a Ugandan native who was abducted from grade school and forced to be a child soldier. After being exiled from the country, Kassim came to the United States eventually becoming a champion boxer.

She continues to oversee international and domestic production of a multitude of TV spots and music videos each year.
