Biography

Mirta Silva was born on September 11, 1927 in Arecibo, Puerto Rico. She was an actress, known for Las canciones unidas (1960), Esclavitud (1944) and Conga bar (1944). She died on December 2, 1987 in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Former lead singer of the legendary salsa band, La Sonora Matancera. When she left the group, she was replaced by an unknown singer, Celia Cruz, who went on to become the Queen of Salsa.
