Graduated from the Moscow Art Theater School in 1961.

From 1961 to 1987, he combined active filming with work in the theater, and since 1987 he had focused entirely on cinema.

In 2017, he founded his own theater-studio, which received a permanent venue in June 2023.

Beyond his artistic achievements, he served as a professor at the Gerasimov Institute of Cinematography, mentoring future generations of filmmakers and actors.

He was best known to both Russian film and television viewers for the numerous roles he had in both mediums during a career that spanned from the 1960s to the 21st Century.

In 1986 he was awarded People's Artist of the RSFSR, the Order of Friendship in 1997, and the Order of Honor in 2015.

During the Great Patriotic War, Vsevolod with his mother was evacuated to Kazan; his mother worked in the aircraft engine plant.

He became known for his versatile performances, including roles in films such as "The Beloved Woman of Mechanic Gavrilov," "Intergirl," and "Izbrannik sudby," where he portrayed Napoleon.

He was since 2008 the President of the Golden Phoenix Film Festival in Smolensk.

As a director, he helmed works like "Den za dnyom"and "Wandering Stars.".
