Biography

Jerri Sher is a 2 time Emmy Award-winning filmmaker. A member of the Directors Guild of America (DGA) for 28 years, she has completed 25 film and television projects. Quiet Explosions: Healing the Brain 2020 has garnered 19 awards and is available on all major platforms. The pilot for her television series, Live Life screened at the Chinese Theatre, LA. This 12-part television series was bought by Discovery Communications. and is available on Jerrisher. Her short film Step Up is part of a presentation Santa Monica Cares which she created for City/TV Santa Monica and the Directors Guild of America, and garnered her the Emmys. Ms. Sher was the writer and producer of the Retrospective Tribute Film honoring Kathryn Bigelow for the DGA's 75th Anniversary Gala. She also wrote and produced a film honoring Betty Thomas, Mimi Leder and Patty Jenkins for the Women's Steering Committee of the DGA. Her short film Live Life A-Z won the My Hero International Film Festival. Her documentary Soul Of An Empire, about the rebirth of 42nd St. NYC, won the Best Documentary Feature Award at the Big Bear Lake International Film Festival and the Special Jury Award at The Savannah Film & Video Festival. Jerri produced The Autumn Heart staring Ally Sheedy and Tyne Daly that was in the Sundance Dramatic Competition, 1999.

A native from Fall River, MA, Jerri earned her BFA from the University of MA at Amherst and an MEd from Springfield College. She has taught at several universities throughout the country and abroad. Then, Ms. Sher entered the transportation industry and worked in sales and marketing for 20 years, learning the necessary skills to become a producer. Her third career of directing and screenwriting emerged when she wrote a novel about a woman in the trucking business, "The Twig Painter". She completed the short film, Smiles In Tecate and is in production of Born Into Silence: Connected by Sound. She is also a member of the Alliance of Women Directors and GreenLight Women.
