Biography

Neil Sheehan was born on October 27, 1936 in Holyoke, Massachusetts, USA. He was a writer, known for A Bright Shining Lie (1998), News in Perspective (1963) and Going Upriver (2004). He was married to Susan Sheehan. He died on January 7, 2021 in Washington, District of Columbia, USA.

Recipient of a Pulitzer Prize and a National Book Award for his 1988 book "A Bright Shining Lie." Sheehan's book inspired the TV film A Bright Shining Lie (1998) in which John Paul Vann was portrayed by Bill Paxton.
