Richard Shaw was born on November 19, 1920 in London, England, UK. He was an actor, known for Quatermass and the Pit (1958), First Man Into Space (1959) and Doctor Who (1963). He died on April 11, 2010 in London, England, UK.

He was asked to reprise his role as Sladden from Quatermass and the Pit (1958) in the film adaptation Five Million Years to Earth (1967). However, he was unable to do so due to a prior commitment. Duncan Lamont, who previously played Victor Carroon in The Quatermass Experiment (1953), was cast instead.
