Marcie Shaw is a New York City-based SAG-AFTRA and AEA actor who recently returned to acting after raising her children.
A member of the original Broadway cast of Les Miserables, she understudied and performed many times as Mme Thenardier, in addition to creating multiple roles in the ensemble. In the original Broadway cast of The Pirates of Penzance, Marcie played the featured role of Kate, and later the principal role of Edith, after originating Kate in the Central Park Delacorte production and live video recording. Marcie has appeared at prestigious venues throughout the country including the Delacorte, the Public, the Kennedy Center, Goodspeed, the Muny, the King Cole Room, Chicago’s Apollo Theater, David Mamet's St. Nicholas Theater, as well as on Saturday Night Live.
Marcie grew up in Downers Grove, IL after moving there from Franklin Square, NY. She attended the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign as an acting major, and more recently trained at Upright Citizen’s Brigade and T. Schreiber Studio. She has been married to clarinetist Steve Hartman since 1987 and they have two daughters.
