- The 28-year-old writer Sonali Senroy was married to director-producer Late Harisadhan Dasgupta, had two children, and was pregnant with a third child when she met legendary Italian director Late Roberto Rossellini. Their romance ignited a fierce scandal, along with protestations held in Bombay protesting their lack of decency. In the midst of this controversy, Sonali opted to leave with Roberto to Paris and eventually living with him in Italy. There they raised her son Gil Rossellini, who was adopted by Roberto and is now a New York-based film producer, and had one daughter, Nur Rossellini, together. Her oldest son, Raja Dasgupta, she abandoned when she married Rossellini.
