Biography

  • Kelsey Scott is a two-time Emmy-nominated actor and screenwriter whose work spans film, television, and theatre. She's best known as Anne Northup in the Oscar-winning "12 Years A Slave" and as Rose Edmond, Wes Gibbins' mother, in "How to Get Away With Murder". Her diverse credits also include "Better Call Saul", "Insecure", "True Detective", "NCIS", and the CW's "Dynasty" reboot.

She received Emmy nominations for her leading role in "Fear the Walking Dead: Passage" (2017, Primetime) and her guest star work on "Giants" (2019, Daytime). Kelsey began her career in Atlanta's theatre scene - going on to originate a role in Pearl Cleage's "What I Learned in Paris," play Shakespeare's Cleopatra, and showcase her vocal work through principal roles in "Once On This Island", "Little Shop of Horrors", and a touring production of "Dreamgirls".

As a screenwriter, she started her career with the Sony Pictures thrillers "Motives" and "Motives 2: Retribution". A former screenwriting professor, she consults for studio and private clients and continues to write commissioned scripts - in addition to shepherding her slate of original projects.

Kelsey holds a B.S. in Broadcast Journalism from Florida A&M and an MFA in Film from Florida State. She serves as an Ambassador for "Kids in the Spotlight", mentoring foster youth through filmmaking, and lends her talents to "WriteGirl", which connects teenage girls with professional women writers.
