- Buried not far from longtime friend Francois Truffaut in Montmartre Cemetery, Paris.
- During the Second World War she was a leading broadcaster for Free French Radio, based in Brazzaville in the Congo. In 1965, for her work she was awarded the France Libre Medal, and in 1986 was made Chevalier De l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres, the highest cultural honor in France.
- Although born in New York, she was raised in Paris where her father worked for the Associated Press.
