  • Mr. Scipio was born in Trinidad and Tobago, and grew up in Toronto, Canada. First attending the University of Waterloo, where he studied Visual Communication and Architecture (Urban Design), and then going on to the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design, where he was a studio major, studying Computer Imagemaking and Multimedia. Ricardo Scipio became an international fashion photographer in 1987, working in Toronto, Montreal, Miami, Dallas, Atlanta, L.A., Chicago, Phoenix, Hong Kong and China. Mr. Scipio retired from photography in 1995 to pursue his filmmaking career full time. In two years, Ricardo wrote three scripts, secured private investors for his first feature film "When (1999)". In 1997, he wrote, directed and co-produced his first feature film "When". "When" was in competition at The Sao Paulo International Film festival in 1998 and premiered in America at the Urbanworld Film Festival in 1999. Mr. Scipio is also producing a book of photographic nudes of New York actresses as a sister project to "When". In 1998, he wrote, directed and produced "Watershed (1999)" a dysfunctional generation-x love story. The film was one of the first if not the first indie feature to be shot in digital high-definition and will be the first American film to incorporate digital imaging and high-definition in all stages of the project. "Watershed" completed shooting on November 30, 1998. Ricardo Scipio is also the writer and director and co-producer of "Hot House Flowers".
