Designed all the T-shirts his character "Howling Mad" Murdock wore on The A-Team (1983) and called it his consistent contribution to the series.

Dwight Schultz was cast in the recurring role of Reginald Barclay as the result of co-starring with Whoopi Goldberg in the movie The Long Walk Home (1990). While working on the movie, Schultz asked Goldberg to pass on his request to make an appearance on Star Trek: The Next Generation (1987).

Upon meeting George Peppard the first time when The A-Team (1983) was beginning, he respectfully introduced himself to Peppard as Dwight Schultz. Peppard's reply was "Very good. I'm George Peppard, and I'm not a very nice man.".

As "Howling Mad" Murdock from The A-Team (1983), he gave his invisible dog, Billy, to the people of Holland when he, Dirk Benedict, Mr. T and Stephen J. Cannell visited the Netherlands in 1984.

Received his Bachelor's degree in Theatre from Towson University in Towson, Maryland.

His wife has her own therapy practice.

Has one daughter: Ava Alexandra Schultz (born October 5, 1987).

Has worked in theatre strictly for fifteen years.

Has appeared with Marina Sirtis in three "Star Trek" productions: Star Trek: The Next Generation (1987), Star Trek: First Contact (1996) and Star Trek: Voyager (1995).

Has English and German ancestry.
