Schulberg is an entrepreneur, philanthropist, climate change spokesperson, and award-winning film producer, director & writer who has worked on more than 200 motion pictures, movies for television or miniseries on both sides of the Atlantic.
From 1990-1998, KC served as Hallmark Entertainment’s Senior Vice President of Marketing & International Communications. During Schulberg's tenure, the company became the largest supplier of movies and miniseries to the United States television market. The company also scored the highest ratings and won more awards than any other company delivering programming to the three major television networks.
KC supervised Hallmark's corporate branding and the distribution campaigns for Hallmark's yearly slate of 60-80 television movies and miniseries, including GULLIVER'S TRAVELS, SCARLETT: THE SEQUEL TO GONE WITH THE WIND, LARRY MCMURTRY'S DEAD MAN WALKING and GYPSY (starring Bette Midler).
Prior to his television work, KC was actively involved in American independent and international cinema, having worked as a Unit Manager, Location Manager or Production Manager on KING OF NEW YORK (directed by Abel Ferrara, starring Christopher Walken), WATING FOR THE MOON (starring Oscar-winner Linda Hunt), THE BIG BLUE (directed by Luc Besson) and 9 other movies. 1n 1990, Schulberg produced Rebecca Miller’s directorial debut, FLORENCE, starring Oscar-winner Marcia Gay Harden and Tate Donovan. The movie featured a guest appearance by Rebecca’s father, legendary playwright Arthur Miller.
From 2000-2002, he served as Sr. VP, Head of Marketing for Paris-based Pandora Cinema, the company responsible for Oscar-winners KOLYA and LIKE WATER FOR CHOCOLATE. During KC's tenure, he supervised the distribution of TRIXIE (starring Oscar-winner Emily Watson), THE OLD MAN WHO READ LOVE STORIES (starring Oscar-winner Richard Dreyfuss) and MAYBE BABY (starring Hugh Laurie).
More recently, In 2017, KC produced feature film WASTECASE by Vito Angelo Trupiano, and subsequently wrote, produced and directed three documentaries: TROUBLED WATERS (2019), ETERNAL VIGILANCE (2020) and WATERBORNE (2021). In 2024, Schulberg served as Executive Producer of Vito Trupiano’s follow up feature, HELLBENT ON BOOGIE, currently distributed by Gravitas Contributing to Schulberg’s environmental work, Schulberg served from 2022-2024 as the Collier County Waterkeeper (CCWK), member organization of the international Waterkeeper Alliance, the largest and fastest growing non-profit devoted to clean water, with 340 chapters on six continents. In that capacity, Schulberg combined his film-making skills and charitable work, directing the hugely impactful THE URGENCY OF NOW documentary, which has been honored with 24 festival awards around the world. During his tenure as CCWK, Schulberg also wrote, produced, directed and hosted daily podcasts from the United Nations COP26 and COP27, providing daily one-hour recaps of proceedings from the conferences for the entire Waterkeeper Alliance and the general public.
Prior to becoming the Collier County Waterkeeper, he served for three years as Executive Director of Calusa Waterkeeper (CWK), where he tripled the organization’s revenue and quadrupled its membership. During his tenure, Schulberg produced, wrote, and directed three clean water documentaries: TROUBLED WATERS (2019). ETERNAL VIGILANCE (2020) and WATERBORNE (2021) Schulberg has always found time to provide pro bono services to social justice and environmental activism causes, starting at age 16 when he served as the youngest marshal to serve in Martin Luther King and Ralph Abernathy’s Poor People's Campaign and Tent City in Washington, DC in 1968. Since then, among his many pro bono activities, he organized a benefit for the homeless at the Roxy starring Kid Creole and the Coconuts, with poster by Keith Haring, a peace concert starring Richie Havens to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the bombing of Hiroshima, countless marches, demonstrations, vigils and protests by Collier Freedom, a non-profit he helps run in Southwest Florida.
Schulberg hails from Hollywood royalty, as a third-generation filmmaker whose grandfather, BP Schulberg, ran Paramount Studios from 1927-1935, producing hundreds of movies, including the first film to win the Oscar - WINGS (1927). His uncle, Budd Schulberg, wrote the screenplay for the Oscar-winning ON THE WATERFRONT, starring Marlon Brando. His grandmother, Ad Schulberg, founded the first female-run talent agency in Hollywood, which has since morphed into ICM. His father directed and produced numerous film and television programs including NUREMBERG: ITS LESSON FOR TODAY.
Schulberg holds a B.F.A. in Directing from Carnegie-Mellon University's school of theater. He has been guest lecturer at Columbia University, NYU and University of Miami Graduate Film Schools. He served on the Advisory Board of the Lorenzo Walker Technical College Media Dept. and has been invited to participate in the Cinemart Producer's Panel at the Rotterdam International Film Festival for three years and was also invited to the inaugural Berlin Film Festival co-production market. Additionally, he twice served on the jury of the Avignon/New York Film Festival and has served as a member of the European Film Academy.
