Mini bio

  • Dave Schram (Nieuwer-Amstel, August 23, 1958) is a Dutch film producer and film director. He is also one of the founders of the Shooting Star Film Company and Shooting Star Film Distribution. Schram is the father of actor/composer Quinten Schram and film director Tessa Schram.

History Schram has worked in the film industry since 1973. He first stood in front of the camera as an actor in the NCRV youth series Orimoa and in Behind the horizon is another country, later behind the camera in various disciplines: light, sound, camera, production and direction. He worked for various assistantships for productions such as: Sabine, Flodder, A flight of Whimbrels, Familiar Faces, Mixed Feelings, A Time to Die (or Seven Graves for Rogan) and Still Smokin.

As a 16-year-old boy, Schram founded his first production company D.E. in 1974. Film productions op. Through an interview in Het Parool, they received an assignment for their first 16mm film in 1976, [source?] a film about Formula 1 races in which James Hunt and Riccardo Patrese also spoke.

Course In 1977, Schram failed his secondary education by a tenth of a point,[source?] but he was nevertheless accepted at the Dutch Film Academy in Amsterdam with a dispensation from the Ministry of Education. During his training at the Film Academy, he and four friends bought their own film equipment under the name Quintetfilm with the aim of "being able to make films independently". Schram graduated from the Film Academy in 1981 with the short film Tussen de Regels and after his training he founded the successor to Quintetfilm: the Singelfilm company.

Film producer Schram made his debut as a film producer in 1988 with the feature film Loos by Theo van Gogh. Schram, together with Hans Pos and Maria Peters, founded their own distribution company in 1993 (Shooting Star Filmdistribution BV), because no film distributor wanted to show their film Daens in the cinema. A few months later, Daens received an Oscar nomination in Los Angeles.[source?]

Direction Schram made his debut as a feature film director in 2007 with the feature film Timbuktu. He then made Radeloos (2008), Lover of loser (2009), Razend (2011) and Regret! (2013).
