Dan Schmit(I)

Founder and owner of Engine Room, Dan Schmit graduated from Cal-Arts in 1989 with a focus on directing experimental animation, motion control and optical printing. He worked at Stargate Films through 1999 as visual effects supervisor, director of photography and head of production. Dan started Engine Room in 2001 as a hybrid studio that bridges the areas of post visual effects, live action and motion graphic design. Dan oversees the myriad of projects undertaken by ER and was VFX Supervisor on features Soul Surfer, A Single Man, Burnt, The Bad Batch and You People. Following Dan's varied career, ER crosses many industry boundaries with a strong presence in television providing digital effects for The Rookie, You, The Other Two, Better Things and many other current run episodic. Now in its 22nd year, Engine Room Hollywood has delivered over 40,000 visual effects shots on hundreds of films, television and new media projects. As a Cinematographer, Dan heads Engine Room's unique DP-driven production company, which regularly shoots special projects for major film studios, networks and commercial clients.
