Biography

Hans Adalbert Schlettow was born on June 11, 1887 in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. He was an actor, known for Die Nibelungen: Siegfried (1924), Dr. Mabuse, the Gambler (1922) and Volga Volga (1928). He died on April 30, 1945 in Berlin, Germany.

An officer's son, initially slated for officer cadet school. Forced to drop out due to the effects of surgery. On stage from 1908. Often cast in villainous roles in silent pictures, notably Hagen in Fritz Lang's "Siegfried" and "Kriemhild's Revenge", or Satan in "Hiob". A fervent supporter of national socialism and antisemitic ideals, he gleefully performed in Nazi propaganda films during the 30's and early 40's. Joined the army as a volunteer in the final stages of the war and was killed during the battle for Berlin in April 1945.

In the 20's followed many engagements for well-known film productions which belong to the most important movies of the German film history.

The actor Hans Adalbert von Schlettow began his film career already in the 1910's.

His roles often tended to the direction of films with a regional background in the 30's.
