Her TV show was cancelled. She said that gay rights activists got her show moved to the late night hours and then no one was able to watch, causing Paramount to pull the plug. However, she said that she is proud of the quality of the show and wishes it had had more of a chance. (April 2001)

(December 16, 2002) Dr. Laura's estranged mother Yolanda Schlessinger, 77 was found dead in her Beverly Hills, California condominium. A neighbor called the Beverly Hills Police after having not seen or heard from her for quite some time. Yolanda had broken ties with her family and had not spoken to her daughter for years.
