- Margarete Schlegel was born on December 31, 1899 in Bromberg, West Prussia, Germany. She was an actress, known for Berlin-Alexanderplatz: The Story of Franz Biberkopf (1931), Der Schuß im Pavillon (1925) and Hanneles Himmelfahrt (1922). She died in 1987 in England.
- When her husband died in 1949 she subsequently remarried, and moved to the English south coast, where she spent the rest of her life.

Murnau in the movie "Sehnsucht" (1920) and she took part in the box-office hit "Der Januskopf" (1920) at Bela Lugosi's side, who became world-famous in later years as Dracula.
