Streaming Stars, Then and Now

Gerhard Scheumann was born on 25 December 1930 in Ortelsburg, East Prussia, Germany [now Szczytno, Warminsko-Mazurskie, Poland]. He was a director and writer, known for Pilots in Pajamas (1968), Der Präsident im Exil (1969) and Am Wassergraben (1978). He died on 30 May 1998 in Berlin, Germany.

Lived together with <a class="ipc-md-link ipc-md-link--entity" href="/name/nm0944288/?ref_=nmtrv_trv">Hannelore Wüst</a>.

Has taught at the School of Television and Film in Potsdam from 1989 until his death.

After graduation, he worked as a journalist.

Attended one of the National Institutes of Education, the infamous secondary schools in Nazi Germany.

Frequently collaborating with <a class="ipc-md-link ipc-md-link--entity" href="/name/nm0382337/?ref_=nmtrv_trv">Walter Heynowski</a>, they were East Germany&#39;s most noted directors of documentaries.
